Working in Australia

housekeeper.jpgInternational students who have been granted Permission to Work need to be aware of the restrictions on the number of hours they can work.

Students who were granted their Student Visas on or after 26 April 2008 will already have Permission to Work automatically included in their visas.

Students who were granted their Student Visas before 26 April 2008 and have not yet applied for Permission to Work, may only apply for Permission to Work after they have commenced their course in Australia.

For details, visit the immigration web page on Conditions for Working While Studying.

While some students are able to supplement their funds with money from part-time and/or vacation work, such work is not always regular even when available and this can lead to anxiety and contribute to study problems.

Students should be aware that it has become very difficult to obtain work during vacation periods and it is extremely hard to earn sufficient funds working part-time to pay for tuition fees and living costs.
