3. What are Kenvale’s courses
like?
Three-dimensional, combining knowledge,
skills and attitude training. Kenvale College’s education approach
combines theoretical expertise, hands-on experience and character
development.
4. What do I get when I
finish?
After 2 years of completing work and study
combined program, you get the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality
Management and Advanced Diploma in Event Management OR Diploma of
Hospitality and Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial
Cookery). You will also complete a total of at least 1,600 hours of
industry experience in hospitality
operations.
Kenvale College is also an alternative
pathway to university. Articulation arrangements are in place so
that Advanced Diploma graduates can have advanced standing and have
their studies credited to a degree course to an additional 1 to 1
1/2 years of study to get a degree
qualification.
5. What ATAR mark do I need to be able
to apply?
Admission to Kenvale College is by
interview. There is no required ATAR. Applicants are selected based
on their passion for the industry, personality and character,
openness to learn and ability to work hard. Academic transcripts
are also taken into account.
6. When do I
apply?
Interviews are conducted as early as
February for the next year’s intake. As a matter of fact, the
earlier the successful applicant confirms offer of acceptance into
the course, the greater is the possibility of getting better
workplace options.
7. Do you offer
scholarships?
Yes, Kenvale College has 2 scholarship
programs: GET REAL
Events Experienceavailable to Year 11 students and
High Flyer
Program available to
Year 12 students.
Kenvale College also offers a Cooperative
Education Scholarship Program (CESP), which assists in paying off
the balance of tuition fees. The Scholarships are renewable each
year, depending on academic performance and behaviour and
performance at the workplace. For more details, go to

8. How much are the
fees?
For Hospitality/Events course,
the
tuition fee for 2012 - 2013 intake is around $15,215 per annum for
domestic students ($18,630 per annum for international
students).
For Commercial Cookery Diploma course, the
tuition fee for 2012 - 2013 intake is $17,385 per annum for
domestic students ($19,130 per annum for international
students).
Fees may be paid over a 10-monthly period,
which makes them affordable.
9. What is VET FEE-HELP and is Kenvale
College an approved provider?
VET FEE-HELP is a loan scheme for Vocational
Education and Training (VET) sector and that is part of the Higher
Education Loan Program (HELP). It allows students to borrow funds
up to their FEE-HELP limit to help pay for all or part of their VET
tuition fees.
Kenvale College is an approved training
provider for VET FEE-HELP.
10. Does the College have a grooming
standard?
Yes. All students are required to wear
the College’s business suit which is established by the College
prior to the commencement of classes. Food and Beverage as well as
cookery subjects also have their own suit/ uniform. The total
approximate cost is $650.
11. How does costing
work?
Students have the choice to apply to VET
FEE-HELP, the CESP or pay up-front.
Besides the course tuition fees, other
approximate costs are: $130 for Orientation for new students, $450
for textbooks, and $110 for College industry
visits.
12. Do I need to have done Hospitality
in high school to be accepted into
Kenvale?
No. There is no prerequisite to have done
Hospitality for the HSC to apply to Kenvale, although it gives us
an indication of your interest in the
industry.
13. How are your classes
structured?
Students come to College 2 ½ -3 days a week.
Classes may start at 8.30am and may finish at 6pm, with appropriate
meal breaks. The academic year is divided in two semesters of 17
weeks each.
