1. Why should I choose Kenvale College?
Kenvale College is highly recognised in the tourism and hospitality industry with its extensive industry experience as part of the requirement of its courses. Kenvale graduates achieve a 100% employment success rate.

2. Why would I want to work in tourism and hospitality?

Tourism and hospitality is the world’s largest employer and Australia’s largest export earner. The international scope creates an increasing demand for competent professionals who meet the international standards of service excellence. The industry gives you the opportunity to work internationally upon graduation.

3. What are Kenvale’s courses like?

Three-dimensional. Combines knowledge, skills and attitude training. Kenvale College’s education approach combines theoretical expertise, hands-on experience and character development.

4. What do I get when I finish?

After 2 years of work and study, you get the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management and Advanced Diploma in Tourism Management, a total of at least 1,600 hours of industry experience in hospitality operations, no HECS debt, and an opportunity to do an additional 1 to 1 ½ years of study and get a degree qualification.

Kenvale College is an alternative pathway to university. Articulation arrangements have been put in place so that Advanced Diploma graduates can have advanced standing and have their studies credited to a degree course.

5. What UAI mark do I need to be able to apply?

Admission to Kenvale College is by interview. There is no required UAI mark. Applicants are selected based on their passion for the industry, personality and character, openness to learn and ability to work hard. Academic transcripts are also taken into account.

6. When do I apply?
Interviews are conducted as early as July for the next year’s intake. As a matter of fact, the earlier the successful applicant confirms offer of acceptance into the course, the greater is the possibility of getting better workplace options.

7. Do you offer scholarships?
Yes, Kenvale College offers a Cooperative Education Scholarship Program, which assists in paying off the balance of tuition fees. The Scholarships are renewable each year, depending on academic performance and behaviour and performance at the workplace. 8. How much are the fees?
The tuition fee for 2009 intake is $13,990
each year for domestic students ($15,990 for international students). Fees may be paid over a 10-monthly period, which makes them affordable.

9. Do I have to wear a uniform?
Yes. Our students wear a corporate casual attire for lectures, and a service uniform for Food & Beverage. The total approximate cost is $650.

10. Do I incur other costs?
There is a non-refundable deposit of $650, upon acceptance into the College. Other approximate costs are: $120 for Orientation for new students, and all students yearly pay $125 for students’ services fee, approximately $450 for textbooks, $110 for participation in compulsory College activities.

11. Do I need to have done Tourism and Hospitality in high school to come to Kenvale?
No, any study at school is worthwhile. There is no prerequisite to have done tourism and hospitality for the HSC to apply to Kenvale, although it gives us an indication of your interest in the industry.

12. How are your classes structured?
Students come to College 2 ½ -3 days a week. Classes may start at 8.30am and may finish at 6pm, with appropriate meal breaks. The academic year is divided in two semesters of 17 weeks each.
